Count on the USA, Haiti

The USA is maligned sometimes but the world has to understand that my country is ready to come to the aid of innocent people caught up in natural disasters. Anywhere, anytime! We are usually the firstest with the mostest.

And us Americans are all for it.

We will open our hearts and wallets for you all.

You get hurt, we will help you as we have much and are generous.

We have made mistakes but the world is better for our influence overall

Haiti will survive because we are there to help . Many lives will be saved from the US efforts.

Americans are good folks and wish nothing but the best for our friends

On the flip-side, you mess with  us and you will live to regret it

How much aid is the Taliban sending to Haiti?

I am so proud of the humanitarian efforts my government and fellow citizens are making to help our neighbors in Haiti.

Count on us. we will do our best!

I'll go along with that! ...and you will usually find us Brits right there behind you!

How right you are Neil! Our respective countries and countrymen do these things out of a sense of duty and compassion without any expectations of gain or gratitude.

You and I both know that the people of the US and UK would much prefer to use our power and treasure for the common good. If this wasn't the case, it would be a much different world.

And yet there will still be those chronic US and UK haters that shake their fists in indignant anger that we are still not doing enough!

Damned if you do and damned if you don't!

Is one allowed to puke at this much show of haloness?

The only sensible comment here was about the taliban...I am amused that you feel the need to compare.

Keeping your governments aside, seeing the Brits in action in the UAE has made many of us in Brit-hating racists. They are, in their words, tossers. Most of them are actively racist. They still speak about having colonised some part of the world or the other, as if it is a matter of pride and their individual achievement.

Americans are okay, a bit better if nasal. But as a stereotype, opportunistic and rather aggressive.

As colleagues one has learnt to distrust people who play the white saviour of the world card, without having passed basic exams.

I am happy your country is sending aid for Haiti, like many others in the world.

Neil Roberts said...

A bit difficult to follow up since you didn't feel the need to share what country you are from. It would be interesting to know how many people your country is sending to Haiti, or how much aid, or maybe how many troops in Afghanistan fighting the Taliban?

Do tell, we would love to know.

Some great generalisations in your post.. "Most of them are actively racist" . What a joke. Again, maybe if you tell us where you are from we can make a comparison. But, if you are going to say UAE, be ready for some flames!

It didn't take long for one of my "fist shakers" to show up. I feel fortunate to just be called nasal, Neil took the brunt.

I have more to say about this but I have to go out.....standby!

Our Anonymous commenter is none other than Dubai Sunshine who seems to have a problem with the color of the skin of the first responders to the Haitian earthquake victims.

Clicking Anonymous doesn't always make it so.

As a citizen of a country that was a former British Colony, I think we have done quite well for ourselves in spite of that fact. For unknown reasons, others have not fared so well. Don't blame the British! When they left it was pretty much up... 2... U! If you dropped the baton, you have only yourself to blame.

I will try to ignore YOUR racist "white saviour" statement. Would you feel better if the Haitian earthquake aid was administered by non-whites and were willing to wait for that! Would you prefer the "white saviours" not respond at all? That could be arranged!

DS, one day I hope you take the blinders off and abandon your hate for your fellow man. Inshallah.

I find it interesting that anon (AKA:Dubai Sunshine) has chosen to make stealth comments against the Brits and Americans, and under all forums he/she has done this, is when the blog refers to the humanitarian effort in assisting the people of Haiti.... piss poor timing...

Anonymous said...

All I wanted to say was that the post sounded very, very pompous. And gagworthy.

Then Ace, as a Brit, joined in, in copycat pompousness and it sounded even worse.

You are not talking about what you did or are doing... so there is no question of YOUR good deed being punished... That was my point :)

Sure I'm making generalisations - in response to "we Americans are so great..." and "oh we Brits are great too." Why complain?

Then again, you are willfully choosing to miss the point - and getting holier than ever.

I also said I am glad that your government, like many others, is sending aid to Haiti. I hope individuals are joining in too.

@Dave: Good point about the bad timing. DS's message is fatally diluted because of that. DS is continuing his/her trend. A cat can't change it's spots so easily. I don't understand the hate and criticism under these circumstances.

@DS/Anon: I have every right to wave my flag as you do yours. It helps if you have a good reason to wave it. Does wonders for credibility, you see.

I bet you wonder how I know it is you, DS!

Anonymous said...

I have to say I have no clue who DS is or your long standing dispute with her. I'm only a reader of random blogs. But hey, I don't expect you to believe me...

You can give your self righteousness a rest. Timing - when else will someone comment on a pompous post, except after such a post is made?!

But yes, it is bit much on my part to expect that people getting all weepy about their govt 's aid will be intellectual giants...

You guys can continues making comments agreeing with each other and pretend you are doing something worthwhile :D

Ah well... This blog won't see this visitor again. It's extremely boring to see "I'll praise you, you praise me" sorta self publishing.

All the best!

Neil Roberts said...

Anon or DS, you are a total joke....

"I'll praise you, you praise me" sorta self publishing.

... because GCC states never do that do they??? lol

..even between Dubai and Abu Dhabi you do that, er like every day!!

Anyway... Hasta la vista

Is that why a FUND has been setup to pay off taliban warlords? Because they were made to "regret it?"

Laughable. The US and UK are the main REASON why the world has been in disarray since 1945.

I have always said the Americans on average are nice enough people. But they are not the nicest, kindest, or most generous. And whenever their wallets are opened up, there are usually hidden agendas behind it.

If the US was about really helping and caring and equality... there would be no veto powers in the UN, Sadam would still be i power (as Bush was a liar) and "Abu Ghuraib" wouldn't have happened.

So although an American has alot to be proud of Ace, it isnt near as much as you're making it out to be, and in the last decade, Americans have more to e ashamed about than proud.

But at least the Haitians are getting the help they need, I just wonder what the expected payment for this help will be in the future.

The September 11th attack on my country was a premeditated overt act of war by Muslim extremists. They had tried it before. How can you think someone was not going to get their hair mussed up after that fucking stunt.

Is that why a FUND has been setup to pay off taliban warlords? Because they were made to "regret it?"

I am not aware of such a fund and I don't get your point.

Laughable. The US and UK are the main REASON why the world has been in disarray since 1945.

Maybe the Western countries have made some mistakes, but it is easy to blame the powers that be as scapegoats for individual countries problems. For example, the UK pulled out of colonialization decades ago and the some of the former colonies have yet to prosper. Their fail.
The US, with all its power, could have dominated the world if we wanted to. We chose not to. We don't roll that way.
The Russians tried with Communism and we all know what happened to that.
Now extreme Muslims think that their view of the world is the "Only Way".That ain't gonna happen and it just makes the rest of you Good Guys look bad. All the bombs and beheadings and shit. It just pisses the rest of the world off. Because of this, Muslims are in a bad need of a PR makeover.

Last time I checked, Catholics were not flying hijacked airliners into Jeddah skyscrapers.

Take the US and the UK out of the equation. What other countries as world powers would have made the world a better place? Who else is ready to accept resposibility for the world's ills? India...China...yeah those are two countries are well known for fairness and ethics.

I have always said the Americans on average are nice enough people. But they are not the nicest, kindest, or most generous. And whenever their wallets are opened up, there are usually hidden agendas behind it.

As with any political system. Not that I agree with that.

I wish the USA would go back to isolationism as it was before WWII. We were against meddling in European affars and were dragged kicking and screaming into involvement in that war. What a different world it would be if we hadn't intervened. No good deed goes unpunished and no matter what the US does, there is always some criticism.

If I open my wallet to help someone and I get slapped in the face, i will think twice about doing it next time.

The US is isolated from the rest of the world by two big oceans and it would be just fine by me if we kept things within our borders and let the rest of the world fend for itself. Then maybe I wouldn't be so "ashamed" for being an American Patriot.

But at least the Haitians are getting the help they need, I just wonder what the expected payment for this help will be in the future.

What a cynical statement that is! You must be able to find a cloud in every silver lining. Last I heard, the very wealthy Emirate of Abu Dhabi sent ONE planeload of supplies to Haiti.Shall I go on about that?

I am not aware of such a fund and I don't get your point.

A FUND worth HUNDREDS of MILLIONS has been setup top PAY OFF taliban warlords to stop killing American Soldiars. Its all over the news.

Clearly the US taught them a lesson. Kill Americans and get rich!

Plus, you govt has, i its 2 wars, killed more americans than the terror attacks! Not to mention 4-6 times innocent civilians.

So again, the terror attack has: Left the US paying for 2 wars they cant afford, has killed more Americans than the terrorists, and has now made those same terrorists rich.

Yes, very good policing.

India...China...yeah those are two countries are well known for fairness and ethics.

Ah, the brainwashed we are better than everyone else talking. of course, YOUR SET of morals and ethics are better than everyone elses.

I have infact never seen a more hypocritical or ethically dead country than the US. And I would much prefer China in charge. And if things keep going as they are, they and Russia will be soon.

What a cynical statement that is! You must be able to find a cloud in every silver lining

I try my best. Its what I was born for.

Last I heard, the very wealthy Emirate of Abu Dhabi sent ONE planeload of supplies to Haiti.Shall I go on about that?

Last I checked, the US is 234567 times more wealthy than Abu Dhabi. The UAE red crescent has sent more than one lane, and much more in money. Infact, I think we sent more than countries 10 times our size.

BUT, at least our aid doesn't come with unsaid but known agendas attached.

I'd prefer to receive 1 dollar of free money than 10 bucks with 345678 strings attached.

Its the American way though, strings and Dr. Pepper.

Not that I would. Not my problem. They arent Emaratis, nor are they our neighbors. If everyone took care of themselves and their direct neighbors instead of "meddling" in issues 10,000 miles away, the world would actually function a bit better.

Care for yourself and anyone within a 2,000 mile radius. Simple. a chain effect would happen... except fr those isolated by 2 large oceans. Makes me happy to know though, as when someone does finally nuke NY, it wont really affect me over here.

From http://www.uaeinteract.com/docs/Khalifa_Humanitarian_Foundation_will_send_largest_international_relief_aid_to_Haitis_victims/39388.htm

The second phase of emergency relief ordered by His Highness UAE President is considered one of the largest international relief aid that will be implemented through direct purchase from the local market in the Dominican Republic to about 500 tons of emergency relief items and necessary supplies.

You were saying? Of course, I forgot, you're American, you do everything better!

I guess we are also fucked if we do and fucked if we dont. Personally I'd have sent nothing. There are plenty of needy here and around here. So now not only are you (as misinformed as you were about the one plane thing) angry, but so am I!

After last post on marketing without search engines, I decided to follow up with a strategy you can use to get quality free traffic. One of the easiest ways to get visitors to your web site is to spend money. Nothing is more effortless then paying for traffic. But if you can’t afford it or don’t want to pay, there’s an equally simple but free way to get traffic: ad swaps.

I actually enjoy Ace's blog alot, if I'd change one thing I'd buy him a Wii so he could play games and realize that God created video games so that he wouldn't have to venture outside.

You're Mr. explorer now... Wait till June and the 46 degree heat! Muahahaha!

ABIT, I dread those upcoming lazy, hazy days of Summer. It means staying inside the four air conditioned walls trying to amuse myself.
A Wii might be a good idea as I would get off my couch and play some faux tennis when the cabin fever got too great.
An added benefit is that my level of beer consumption might decrease as the beverage might tend to foam up during my backhand shots.
