I Am Outta Here

I finally did it. I pulled the trigger and resigned my post last week. I will be leaving Abu Dhabi at the end of the year. I did not take the decision lightly. I have had a good run here and many adventures and good stories resulted. At this point I do not know where I will end up so it seems I am taking yet another jump into the abyss. As they say, "a rolling stone gathers no moss".

I had to leave here sometime anyway, I am just a guest here so I thought now is a good time as any. I am not getting any younger and it seems US employers have a problem with considering citizens living overseas for job opportunities. I realize I have to be back on home soil to further my career.

I will continue this blog no matter what because I like doing it. The name may change depending on where I end up. I have some things to reveal that I can't as long as I live here so stay tuned.

As always I appreciate my followers, I do it all for you. I consider it a privilege and honor that you spend some time out your day to read my scribblings. I promise to continue to be creative and entertaining for you. More stories to come!

Good luck, and hope your move back goes super smoothly. Or at least as smoothly as any long-distance move can go.

Hey guys and gals, I plan to continue this blog. It is my creation and I will not let it fade away so stay tuned I have much more to say from about my experiences here.

Jordan: Thanks for your loyalty, Macedonia look likes a cool place, I would like to visit there some time.

Geez Chuck, It seems more paperwork is required to leave than to enter the UAE! More on that later.

Misalyn: You are a kind Saint helping your fellow men and women. Your good deeds will not go unrewarded. Your new blogs are great!

Khalid: Thanks for reading! I enjoyed writing about my perspective of an American living in Abu Dhabi. My time here has improved me as a person. I don't know where I will end up but I do promise new adventures and stories.

I find Abu Dhabi a cool country and wish all Emiratis a happy and proud 40th aniversity. You have come so far in so little time!

Hi Ace,

I happily stumbled upon your blog today when I googled "job market abu dhabi"....

I am thinking about looking for work in Abu Dhabi or Dubai (I am a management consultant with one of the big global firms) and was wondering if you have an update to your post from 2010 where you mentioned that the market was really terrible. Has it improved at all?

Kris and Bert, Thanks for your kind words. I wish you 2 well in your future endevours. A rolling stone gathers no moss and it keeps us young. Stay with the blogging, I enjoy it!

Susan, as the rest of the world, the UAE job market is still iffy right now. I have talked to many expats and this place was the "cat's ass" 10 years ago but not so much now. Seems to be a lot of folks willing to work for much less money now than in the past. Be careful and investigate!
